"Cactus Flats"

Directions

• Starting at I-25 and CO-14 (Exit 269), travel east 30.5 miles

• Turn north on Weld CR #65 (~100ft west of Milepost 170) (Google map to here)

• Follow dirt road 1 mile to end; stop at the barbed-wire fence gate on east side of road

• Open the gate, drive through, stop, and CLOSE the gate

• You are now at the "Cactus Flats (South)" site

• Follow the 2-track "road" north ~0.6 mile to the "Cactus Flats North" site

• Set up over the "ridge" where shown in the above photo

Comments

• Dark sky, except for increasing "light dome" pollution to the SW

• Cactus Flats "North" is generally preferred to the "South" (at the gate) site - fewer stray lights

• People set up at the "South" site if they arrive well after dark or the ground is wet

• There are NO facilities

• Set up before dark to find a spot with fewer cactus
